My research aims at deepening the overall understanding of how children acquire reading skills. I started investigating this aspect of developmental psychology, between June 2017 and June 2020, using environmental print and eye-tracking technology. In the same period, I was involved in a longitudinal study focusing on the neural mechanism of developmental dyslexia. EEG/ERP was used to explore Chinese character processing in a sample of dyslexic and typical Chinese children. Throughout this study, I realized the importance of cognitive neuroscience methods and machine learning algorithms in reading research as well as the unique features of dyslexic bilinguals. In this regard, my PhD project focus on the brain dynamics of mono- and bilingual dyslexics using EEG/fMRI during natural narrative processing.
