Position
Ph.D. student
Core research topics
Speech perception, Reading development, Dyslexia

I started to pursue my interest in neuroscience by enrolling in the Research Master program at Maastricht University specializing in Neuropsychology. It quickly became apparent that I am particularly enthusiastic about neuroimaging – (f)MRI in particular. Upon completing my studies I was fortunate enough to be welcomed into the Brain and Language group as a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Milene Bonte. During the course of my PhD, I will be investigating reading-induced brain plasticity in typically reading children and children with dyslexia using fMRI and behavioral measures. More specifically, I will explore how a child’s susceptibility to letters and speech sounds is linked to cortical activation patterns, and how this activation and susceptibility varies over time, between children of different ages, and with regard to reading fluency.
